How to String a Weed Whacker

By learning how to string a weed whacker, you save yourself time, money and several trips to the local garden store. If you own your own property and have any sort of garden, you probably own a weed whacker. The disadvantage to this handy machine is that you need to practice regular maintenance to keep it working properly. This becomes expensive if you do not know how to perform this maintenance yourself.
First: Gather
Before stringing the weed whacker, check that you have all the proper equipment. You need a weed whacker cord and an oil filer wrench. You also need new lines for the weed whacker to replace the ones that are damaged or unraveled.
Second: Prepare
Begin by pressing the lock and rotating the spool to the left. Remove the lock ring and also the automatic feed button. Use a smooth cloth to wipe away grime. Then, push down on the spool. This releases the locking tabs. Once these are released, remove the spool from its chamber. You are now ready to restring the weed whacker.
Third: Restring
Begin by feeding the line into the lower deck. This secures the end of the line. Next, wrap the other end of the line in the direction that the arrows point. Stop when it reaches the depth of the chamber and then secure it in the grooves of both the upper and lower deck. Place the spool back in its chamber, pass the lines through it and pull until they are both tight. As soon as you reattach the locking ring, you are all set.
